Circle Activities

The majority of stamp varieties occur in stamp books. 'The Bookmark' Catalogue of British Decimal Postage Stamp Books, published by MBPC, has become a worldwide reference and its nomenclature for panes and books is widely used by dealers and other catalogues. It is currently being updated to be reissued in parts.

Postal auctions of members’ material are held every two months. A typical auction, open only to Circle members, would contain around 1,000 lots. Auctions include material from the Wilding period to the very latest Royal Mail issues. The whole of the range of the Circle's interests is covered by rotation within the Circle year.

The next Circle meeting will be held on Sunday 23rd October 2016 and will include the A.G.M.

It will be held at the Somers Sports and Social Club, 2 Grange Hill, Halesowen, West Midlands B62 0JH.

It is about one and a half miles from M5 Junction 3.

Take the A456 (Manor Way) towards Kidderminster. At the first roundabout take the first left and immediately turn right into Somers Club. Please note this is only about 2 car lengths from the roundabout and there is a “KEEP CLEAR” area on the other side of the road. There is ample parking in the car park.

It is a Private Members’ Club who take bookings for the Function Room. The main entrance is card operated but will be open to all from 9am. Restrictions on entry will probably be enforced around mid-day when the Bar opens, but access will still be available to all by ringing the bell.

There are tables and chairs in the function room and they are not required to be put in a cupboard at the end of the meeting. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available in the room. You are welcome to use the Bar when it is open. A buffet lunch will be provided for those who require it, but numbers will be needed in advance. (To me please, Tony Wilkins, 01384 891373)
